***It is true that I really love trance. I like that I have the freedom to love trance. I also pay attention to all forms of music as inspiration can come from anywhere at any time. I wanted to create a sound that went in between the underground and the commercial EDM spectrum. I wanted to use voice (vocals) as a tool and to be a part of my music, to stimulate emotions much like a solo violinist would do. Quadran was the perfect outlet for this concept.***     ---Philippe van Mullem/Quadran---

***An outstanding track always has a mix of strong elements… the bass and drum groove is very important but the main “catchy” or melodic element combined with the arrangement and the overall sound quality is important to me too. The initial idea is just a few hours, then getting everything fine-tuned and checking out effects and arrangement might take 2-4 days depending on the track.***                       ---Oliver Lieb---

Ralf Hildenbeutel quote

Image
I originally came from classical music, mainly piano, and later I became interested in pop music and bands as well. In addition to classical music, I listened to American and English synthpop and 80s rock, not only electronica. I listened to all the typical electronic bands like Kraftwerk and Jean-Michele Jarre, but also synth rock bands like Ultravox and Saga. When we all got together in the studio, it was all about electronic music and the good thing is that we didn't have that much of an influence before that gave us the ability to create new things.          ---RALF HILDENBEUTEL---

Solarstone quote

Image
Solarstone was a 3 piece band formerly known as The Space Kittens - when we were doing Acid, Disco, House. The name change happened when the music style started to change, we were doing trance remixes for Perfecto as Space Kittens - but when we produced "The Calling" and "Red Jerry" with Hooj Choons - we suggested a name change. Sam left in 1998 because he had no taste for trance music, then around 2005 Andy also lost interest in trance. Nothing really happened for a few years until I got fed up with the lack of momentum and decided to go solo. Production has always been my domain after Sam left, so it was only natural for me to go solo when Andy decided to go his own way.

Ben Lost quote

***In 2005, I said goodbye to Lost Language. At the time, I was living in the back room of a record shop in East London. I listened to records all night, mainly Techno, Italo, Minimal… I was fed up with Trance and a bit of myself. Looking back, I had a predictable, banal existential crisis. Around 2008, I read "This is Water" by David Foster Wallace and "Catching the Big Fish" by David Lynch, which had a huge impact on me. I started meditating, chasing after mysticism, and my demons left the party through the back door. Then I had to wean myself from mysticism. Sometimes you have to be an animal. After some fine-tuning under the hood, I finally returned to Lost Language in the winter of 2012.*** [2014]                      --- Ben Lost ---

Thomas Coastline quote

Image
***The Thomas Coastline project is close to my heart. Under this pseudonym I perform exclusively with trance music. I used to release a lot of 140 BPM trance, but then I released some slower, more progressive stuff. As an artist, I follow the motto "professionalism first". Unfortunately, I don't always get the same answer. I'm also not going to change my attitude towards music and music genre like some of my colleagues did. It wouldn't be Thomas Coastline anymore, and my loyal fans don't deserve me jumping to something more mainstream just because it's trendy right now.***[2016]               --- Thomas Coastline ---

Terry Bones quote

Ever since I started composing (I started when I was 16), I've had amazing moments through music. At the top of the list, I met my wife through music. Another of the best moments was the remix of one of my tracks by StΓ©phane Marino. It was a moment I will never forget and I treasure his remix. I still compose for moments like this. It's a hobby that has brought me things that are much more important to me than money or becoming a star.

"I've always been a big fan of the late 90's, the beginning of the best trance music. I love how a piece of music can be so emotional yet so powerful. So yeah, melodic techno was a natural evolution for me, I think, that it has more to do with old trance music than techno itself, and it's a genre that's going to stay, especially if everyone tries to give it their own interpretation instead of trying to sound like something we already have."                  ---NOMAS---

I stopped using the "Kid Vicious" alias for three reasons. First of all, I didn't want to be seen as a kid anymore, I'm getting old too (laughs). Secondly, the management of the Sex Pistols contacted me saying that I looked a lot like Sid Vicious. The third reason is that David Guetta has started making weird Madonnas, Depeche Mode and other bootlegs under this guise and even releasing them on vinyl! Then a full album of these bootlegs came out, again using my alias. We have tried to contact David's management in every possible way but they simply did not respond. In the end, I decided to just get rid of the alias and start using my own name. It seems to work because people like it!

Uplifting Trance became closest to my heart and I stayed with it. The Hard Trance and Dance productions were more like experiments to see what works best for me. Definitely nothing motivates me more than those later supports. It's great when I can hear myself, like recently in A State of Trance. Armin announced my track adding that it's a great number from me and it motivated me to the point that I don't break away from the studio. Pieces of Robert Miles came to me, I listened to him as a child. He had very catchy piano melodies. I was so drawn to it that I stayed with this genre. [2013]

"You can never look ahead and when I started I was already pleased to receive my first vinyl with my own music pressed on it! It's great to see that I've been able to create a great fanbase all along and I'm still grateful that I was able to release music for these people and play in front of them. Sometimes a huge amount of reaction makes me realize that the music I make has an impact on other people's lives and makes me happy."            ---- Leon Bolier ----

"I would describe my sound as a high-energy forward drive. Very emotional and contrasting. I try to tell a story, create a journey through different emotions, taking the listener to wonderful places, to dark regions, trying to convey the whole range of feelings that life brings. I try it also provides a lot of energy to get through it all. I feel like no other genre represents my feelings and personality quite like trance." ---- Cold Blue ----

Quote... Visions Of Trance

"Trance is not just music. It's a lifestyle, a different, sensual view of the world, love for deep sound that arouses great emotions. Listening you can jump or cry feel a surge of energy or emotion and waves of memories. Trance is like the ocean feelings... Once you immerse yourself in it - you will drown, you will be addicted and you will be accompany forever..."

When I got the opportunity to remix one of the tracks in the Pure Trance catalogue, I was looking for something distinctive. My first shot fell on "Forward Forever" from Orkidea. However, too many already existing remixes of this recording meant that I had to choose something else. Then I found "Breathe" derived from the hands of MK8. A catchy and memorable melody is what I was looking for. An idea for a new version of this piece immediately popped into my head. The confirmation of this is the fact that I managed to finish the whole thing in just two days. ---AQUARIUS---

Quote... Torsten Stenzel πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ

"Trance is techno with a soul. When I discovered this, it was immediately clear to me that this is what I was going to create. Each artist I worked with over the years had their own "world". Each had a niche of reference. However, there was never a competition or envy of them. Our trance was dictated by what we felt we were doing, without any malice or trading strategy." -- Torsten Stenzel --

"The biggest musical achievement for me is that I just made a name for myself in the genre. I was a huge fan of trance music before releasing my own music. Now being part of a scene that I was such a fan of means a lot to me. Most people with a reasonable interest in music trance knows who I am and that's very humble. Basically, being a part of the whole trance music industry and history seems to be my greatest musical achievement." ----Airbase----
