In 2001, Mirco De Govia released an outstanding track titled "Epic Monolith." It was issued on vinyl via the label Euphonic Records and included the original version alongside remixes by Kyau vs. Albert and Sonorous.
The release also appeared under the Xtravaganza label. Many listeners consider this track to be Mirco’s finest work—at least until they discover that it was, in fact, a collaboration with another German artist. This often happens when only one name appears on a record sleeve—a common occurrence in the world of vinyl. For some, this distinction matters a great deal; for others, it is of no consequence. Although Mirco composed the track himself, he collaborated with (Ronski Speed) a fellow countryman on the final production. Good music always speaks for itself, and that is certainly the case here.
It remains one of the best tracks of 2001—a piece I find myself returning to often. The original version is decidedly superior to the aforementioned remixes, though that is not to say the others lack merit; they serve as an excellent complement to the release. It is a record well worth having in one’s collection.
