Cadeya (Ten Questions with...) Exclusive Interview

Jakub Gรณrzewski, aka Cadeya, is a Polish trance producer whose music has been released on labels such as Ablazing Records, Redux Magic, Yeiskomp Records, Proximum, Critical Uprising, and others. He's known for his passion for moving music with atmospheric sounds that quickly captivate the listener. Join us for this exclusive interview with Visions of Trance.

1. What is trance music to you?

To me, Trance is so much more than just a music genre; it’s a lifeline and a promise that the best emotions are still ahead of us. It’s the purest form of energy that can grab you in your darkest, most difficult moments and prove to you that the world can still be incredibly beautiful. It is simply the essence of life forged into sound. It’s a genre that doesn't just make you dance; it makes you feel alive.

2. How do you perceive the state of the current trance music scene?

The scene is incredibly dynamic right now, but honestly, I feel like we are missing something crucial. Everything today is being drastically shortened. I really miss those longer, deeply atmospheric tracks that slowly pull you in, build the tension, and literally glue you to the dance floor. I am a massive fan of extended versions, not the quick radio edits. For me, Trance needs time to breathe and tell a proper story, rather than rushing to the drop in two minutes.

3. What are your goals in producing trance music?

My biggest goal isn't chasing virtual numbers, chart positions, or trying to be famous overnight. My goal is to reach the real people on the other side of the speaker. My project is growing right now in a very natural, steady, and stable way, and I am incredibly grateful for that organic growth. As I mentioned, I originally come from Koszalin, and honestly, one of my biggest personal dreams is to play a gig back home in the North for my old friends and the local crew, because I know they hold the Trance flag high over there!

4. Who was your inspiration to start producing trance music?

It actually all started away from the computer screen. Long before I ever opened a DAW, I taught myself how to play the keyboard simply by listening to my favourite tracks and trying to recreate the melodies by ear. That gave me my raw musical foundation. But transitioning from just playing notes to actually producing professional, high-energy tracks—that’s a whole different world. And that’s exactly where Matt Bukovski comes in. He is, without a doubt, my absolute biggest production inspiration. I spent countless hours deeply analyzing his amazing tutorials; his workflow and the way he explains the complex secrets of music production were exactly the breakthrough I needed to level up my sound. I honestly owe my current place as a producer to his guidance. Among other online mentors, I also have to mention James Dymond and his brilliant, eye-opening tutorials on Sonic Academy. Musically, though, my roots dig deep into the absolute classics of 1998-2002: the magic of Robert Miles and the early era of Armin van Buuren. They are the real reason I wanted to learn how to play in the first place!

5. Which song are you most proud of and why?

Honestly, the track I am most proud of is usually the one that reflects my most intense, personal experiences. To me, every single track I produce is a "sonic photograph" tied to a specific memory or place—whether it's the deep isolation of my cabin in the middle of the ocean, or the sunny, vibrant energy of my studio in Porto. A perfect example of this is my track signed to Ava White, which captured a very raw and emotional story from my time at sea. Looking at my catalog, "High Release" on Ablazing Records was a huge breakthrough for me. But deep down, I will always hold the deepest sentiment for my very first release, "Galaght," because it was the spark that proved my dreams could actually become reality.

6. Will your future releases be collaborations with other artists? Are you more into solo productions?

I honestly love both. Solo productions are my playground and the core of what I do, but collaborations bring a completely fresh energy to the studio. You will definitely hear a solid mix of both new solo tracks and exciting collaborations from me.

7. What inspires you to create trance music?

For me, it’s all about extreme contrasts. My everyday life is torn between two completely different worlds. Half the time, I’m working at sea—sometimes my studio is literally just a small cabin on a ship surrounded by an endless, unpredictable ocean. That isolation makes missing home and my family hit twice as hard. Being so far away from my loved ones incredibly sharpens and intensifies every single emotion. That deep hunger to return, and the melancholy that comes with it, becomes a massive inspiration that I immediately try to translate into melodies. On the flip side, when I’m back in my studio in Porto, I soak up the sun, the vibrant culture, and the pure joy of just being around people again.

8. What hardware and software do you use to create trance music?

I’ve jumped between Ableton and FL Studio over the years, but recently, being a dedicated MacBook user, I decided to dive deep into Logic Pro. As for my studio gear, my command center is built around the excellent Audient iD24 audio interface and Adam A77H monitors, which never forgive a mixing mistake. To get that hands-on mix feel, I use a Behringer X-Touch controller alongside my MIDI keyboard and a hardware Roland synthesizer. Inside the box, besides industry heavy-hitters like Serum, Spire, Sylenth1, Dune, and Zebra, I am a huge fan of vintage emulators—especially the legendary Roland JP-8000. It is absolutely essential for getting that classic, massive Trance supersaw sound!

9. How do you perceive the influence of social media on the career development of a trance artist?

Honestly, it’s absolutely essential, but not in a corporate, "marketing" way. Social media is basically our virtual club that’s open 24/7. For me, it’s the perfect place to show the raw backstage of my life. Sharing those ordinary, sometimes tough, but inspiring behind-the-scenes moments builds a genuine, living community. It completely breaks the wall between the artist and the listener, turning us into just a bunch of friends sharing the same deep passion for Trance.

10. Finally, what would you like to say to your fans?

Thank you for being here, for tuning in, and for believing in my journey. To me, Trance is all about pure emotion and celebrating life. I really hope that with every single track I release, I can give you a reason to smile, a moment of escape, and a solid boost of energy, no matter where you are or what you are currently going through. Thank you for being part of this, and I hope to see you on the dancefloor soon!
