Astura is a side project of Swiss electronic music producer and DJ Andy Prinz. The track "Cassandra" is one of the project's most recognizable and acclaimed tracks, a clear example of classic trance and electronic music from the early 2000s. It was initially released in 2004 on double-sided vinyl (side-B) as a duet with the track "Cassiopeia" on Fundamental Recordings. I love the sounds coming out of this production. Andy has perfected this track in every way.
Side A has a "cosmic" meaning. Cassiopeia is a constellation in the northern sky and is circumpolar from mid-northern latitudes. Cassiopeia is visible lower in the sky for part of the year. Traveling south, it becomes completely invisible below 25 degrees south latitude. It's easy to find because it's composed of relatively bright stars that form a distinctive W or M shape. In Greek mythology, it's the mother of Andromeda. The first brightest stars that make up Cassiopeia are formally designated Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, and Epsilon. Alpha is known as Schedar, Beta is Caph, and Delta is Rukbat.
This track's meaning is even richer than the previous one. It delivers three more minutes of classic trance music that feels endless. An incredible track, one that can easily be called a masterpiece. The vinyl is a must-have for fans of these old-school sounds.
