Laurent Veronnez (Airwave), Ludovic Meyer (Ferry Tayle) and Peter Schiettekatte (Frederico Santini) created the trio of progressive trance as CAPE TOWN.
The gentlemen were responsible for a number of the best trance songs from the beginning to the mid-2000 and later. For the sake of completeness, it should be added that the latter participated in the creation of the project's first three releases (Skydriver, Stringrizer, X-Tension). The remaining tracks are either collaborations between Laurent and Ludovic or the former's sole work. The album AVIATEUR has gathered great hits under one project to the delight of many fans. There is no doubt that CAPE TOWN has created timeless classics that still echo the hearts of Trance music lovers. The album was released on a CD in the ZYX Music label under license from Bonzai Music in 2008.
This album is simply stunning! I came across this edition quite by accident. I was looking forward to releasing this album after hearing some of these songs in MP3 format. The two most important things, even with all the other good materials here are two legendary trance songs in history: "Proglifter" and "Metaphorique". These two songs are simply amazingly composed, developed and produced. Airwave and Ferry Tayle are perfect when they produce separately and work better together. My only caveat is that a number of songs have been assembled to 6-7 minutes to get a reasonable number of songs on the CD. If you love "Proglifter" and "Metaphorique" like me, be sure to look for their 10-12 minute version. These compositions evolve and develop and deserve such a length!
PITSTOP (Amblifter Mix):
Pitstop is the perfect opener and gives the whole album a mood. The broken rhythm of the drums, combined with the huge amount of moody chords and synthesizer themes dancing high above all, really take you elsewhere.
METAPHORIQUE (Ferry Tayle "Neverending Story" Mix):
The best song on the album. 13 minutes of listening pleasure. This is a unique and exciting song. I think all progressive trance fans should have a copy of it somewhere in their library. It's a real look at the night sky and doom. Sounds trivial, but it's really a perfect escape to another world.
Starting from the street atmosphere, drums and synthesizers slowly fade away and fall into the whirl of imagination. We get a dose of creative genius.
Touch the Skies, Talk To The Stars (Original Mix):
Another 11-minute song. Composed with lots of moody atmosphere. The highlight of this song would be a wonderful string arrangement that is relaxing and beautiful.
Aviateur (Original Mix):
Title song. A dance song with the well-known pounding bass drum from the very beginning. It has a nice, uplift theme that runs all the time.
Proglifter (Original Mix):
Dreamy synth pads with thin motifs fly over us again and uplifting trance elements with a slight note of melancholy.
Metaphorique (Original Mix):
Not as moving as the Ferry Tayle version. An endless mix of the song's history, but it's essentially a parent song and still knows how to do a lot! Slightly less atmospheric, but still a real winner!
Co-Pilot (Original Mix):
The main game in this song are synthesizer and chord elements that rise and fall to emphasize the already dramatic theme.
Cinema (Ferry Tayle 'Neverending Story' Mix):
This is a total masterpiece with a great theme. The thing that really hits me on Ferry Tayle's mixes is that they are very diverse! It will always change themes in one way or another or introduce and output different rhythms to interest the listener.
Albatros (Original Mix):
A very nice song, with spinning synthesizers and bumps that will allow you to move all night long.
Phoenix Tears (Original Mix):
If I had to choose the weakest song on this album, this is it. My main problem with this song is that it really isn't memorable and seems a bit of a filler, but I may be wrong. I'm sure some of you will disagree and find something I don't see in it, but for me this is the only weakness of the whole album.
Pitstop (Original Mix):
It's much more optimistic compared to the remix, but it's interesting to see themes in a different context than the ambient mix. The perfect way to end an album.
This is one of the best albums in the history of Trance music. Such CDs are not sold. This is a masterpiece that is difficult to buy on a CD, and if it appears somewhere on sale, the price is always high! I recommend this publication. I like coming back to this album. Relaxing and beautiful. Just unforgettable!
