DJ Neon (Ten Questions with...) Exclusive Interview


DJ Neon has been DJing for over thirty years. He plays all types of Hard Trance, Freeform, UK Hardcore, fast, melodic, and heavy music. He also specializes in playing sets and concerts in various electronic music genres. He is also a music producer. This Finnish artist shares his thoughts on Trance and Hard Trance music. We invite you to this exclusive interview with Visions of Trance.


1. What is Trance music to you?

Trance music is life! Trance gives you joy, happiness, love, feelings, emotions, healing, goosebumps, power . Trance gives you strenght and power to go forward ---> no matter what happens. Trance is universal language between ravers all over the world.





2. How do you perceive the state of the current Hard Trance music scene?

Hardtrance scene is ALIVE and always will be ALIVE!!!! Hardtrance scene has been since early 90's and it's evolving like all music is doing from time to time. Hardtrance scene gives energy and same time it gives feelings and emotions and shiverz so that is reason the scene will be here forever, ravers needs also Hardtrance !


3. What are your goals in producing Hard Trance music?

My goals is to do all kind Hardtrance tracks (also goal is to do many other genres, already i have tracks and collab tracks in styles : Freeform, Gabber/Hardcore, Hard Techno), released them at several labels all over the world. Goal is to get some tracks released on CD or VINYL. I have already got track on D.Trance 79 CD COMPILATION and 2 tracks / collab tracks are released on CD SINGLES, and 1 track on CD COMPILATION. Also goal is to do album. And goal is to do collabs a lot with different producers, especially to do tracks together with my wife Melodi aka MissNeon ! And goal is also to do collabs also especially with our brotherhood team, which is me and Lezamaboy! Also we have Threeteam : Me, MissNeon , LEZAMAboy. Also goal is that when have released tracks, hope so to get then Dj international gigs.


4. Who was your inspiration to start producing Hard Trance music?

I have played as Dj Neon 30-years at year 2024, so i have many many many inspiration sources. My inspiration are examples : Cocooma, Gary D., Dj Gollum, Dj Mellow-D, Hitch-Hiker & Dumont, Jones & Stephenson, Push, S.H.O.K.K., Jam X & Dumonde, Cosmic Gate, Dj Dean, Shoko, Scot Project, Kai Tracid, Hennes & Cold, Warmduscher, Alphazone, Jon the Baptist & Dj Chuck-E, Shock-Force, Nomad, Renegade System, XLS, Rainer K, Noizy Boy, Technikal/Technikore, Scott Brown, JD-KiD, Al Storm & Euphony, Dj Kurt, Lee UHF, M-Project, Transcend, A.B,, Douglas, Greg Peaks Dougal & Gammer, Fracus & Darwin, Breeze & Styles, Riko, Marc Smith, Kevin Energy, Pastis & David Traya, Xavi BCN, Dj Noriken, Betwixt & Between and Eliot Ness and list goes on....


5. Which song are you most proud of and why?

Defo tracks : Der Zeitgeist and with MissNeon : Neverending Love Story.

Der Zeitgeist it's my first track and it example went to world famous CD COMPILATION : D.Trance 79 PHYSICAL CD which was my dream come true,i have been fan of D.Trance CD COMPILATION since 1994 and i have many many D.Trance COMPILATIONS. It was dream come true to get own track to physical cd compilation. Der Zeitgeist was on Top100 chart at Trackitdown page for several months, total 8 months also it was long time at place #1.



With MissNeon : Neverending Love Story (247 Is The Melodi Of Love). Neverending Love Story has special meaning, cause it's my and my wife first track together and it was played in our marriage ceremony at church when we walked in aisle, track is our signature to our Neverending Love Story and for our love for music. Also that's why Neverending Love Story, cause it has those elements what got me to do hardtrance music and those elements are what i have loved over 30 years, the elements are : very strong kick, hard reverse bass, fantastict vocals, amazing melody which gives energy, shivers and huge emotion.



6. Will your future releases be collaborations with other artists? Are you more into solo productions?

I will defo do own tracks / tracks together with my wife MissNeon. Me and MissNeon are also doing in future Dj sets and gigs together. Also i am going to do a lot of tracks with Lezamaboy – our Brotherhood team. Also i do collabs with other artists too.





7. What inspires you to create Hard Trance music?

2024 year I celebrate 30-years at Dj Neon and 30-years Dj:ing. So my Dj career and also that i have listened electronic music since early 90's got me to create Hardtrance music. I wanted to to do tracks what kind tracks i think would be huge to play at Dj gig and Dj set, and it's huge to play own tracks at Dj gig.


8. What hardware and software do you use to create Hard Trance music?

I like very much FL Studio. And we also have example : Novation Circuit groovebox, Arturia minilab midi controller, Irijule Theoryboard, Behringer Pro VS mini synthesizer.





9. How do you perceive the influence of social media on the career development of a Hard Trance artist?

Social media in my opinion helps spread info and tracks more easily. Ravers gets more easily to know about music. So social media helps also hardtrance scene.


10. Finally, what would you like to say to your fans?

I want to say BIG AND FOREVER THANK YOU ALL OF YOU RAVERS AND RAVE ORGANISISERS AND STAFFS AND EVERYONE !!!!!! Big thank you to you who has come to on my Dj gigs, buy my tracks, support me in anyway. I am forever grateful !!!! Without you ravers, there wouldnt be me, we do this together!
