Blufeld - Fixated By The Aura (Album Interview - Visions Of Trance) 2025
David Hearn, better known as Blufeld, releases his sixth studio album. For the first time on Addictive Sounds, Visions of Trance interviewed the English producer about the history of this project. Enjoy the read.
1. What is the title of the upcoming album and where did the idea for the title come from?
The album is titled *Fixated By The Aura*, a name inspired by the direct connection between my style and sound, which is characterized as melodic, emotive, and ethereal. It reflects my deep feelings towards the music I create, as I become fully immersed in each phase of the creative process, almost as if I am entirely absorbed in crafting an otherworldly experience!
2. What was the inspiration for writing your next studio album?
To be honest, I didn't have a particular source of inspiration. My motivation primarily stemmed from the evolution of my sound over the past few years, during which I feel I've truly established my own unique identity as an artist! I was eager to create another trance-oriented album, infusing more of my own vocal elements and atmospheric ad-libs to capture that essential "Aura." Additionally, I aimed to incorporate the essence of classic trance into some tracks, all while maintaining my distinctive style!
3. What was the path to this album?
This album has been a labor of love for almost two years, filled with numerous highs and lows!
For me, creating an album is always a considerable undertaking. Nevertheless, I have pushed through by trusting my inner voice and remaining faithful to my creative journey, even amidst the challenges along the way!
4. You have created many interesting tracks that have shaped your place in the trance scene. Do you consider this album to be the best in your career as a producer so far?
That’s a great question! First, I want to express my gratitude for your kind words. I see this as a compliment to my journey and the growth of my work. If I had to answer whether this is the project that brings me the most fulfillment, I would definitely say yes. I take great pride in this album, both in terms of creativity and the overall quality of each track's production.
5. Do you still plan to deliver your new music and stick to what your fans know, or will there be any surprises?
There’s a blend of both, honestly. My style and ethos are evident in my previous tracks, as I strive to maintain a consistent signature sound throughout. However, I also incorporate a wealth of fresh, creative ideas to push the sound forward for listeners and keep them intrigued.
6. Can we expect any guests on the upcoming album? Is it exclusively a solo work?
At the outset of my writing journey, when I initially sat down to contemplate my vision for collaboration or incorporating external vocalists, I felt that I wanted this to be a personal experience, especially given the album's title. However, I will definitely keep this idea in mind for my future projects!
7. Since we are talking about your next album and you are getting ready to release it, do you feel any pressure?
I believe it’s completely natural for any artist to feel a sense of intrigue and hope regarding how their work will be received, especially after dedicating so much time and passion to it. They hope that their album resonates with fans and new listeners alike, allowing them to connect with the music.
Simultaneously, I find joy in the journey that this album represents, which brings me a personal sense of belief and contentment!
8. What track do you see as your favorite on the new album?
I honestly find that extremely difficult to choose!
However, if I must give an answer, I would say the intro “Night Swerve.” I love the simple yet powerful atmosphere it creates, as I have always been focused on the atmospheric dynamics in music and how immersive they can be. Additionally, I believe this track perfectly encapsulates the album's tone and establishes the ideal “Aura” for the journey that the album takes us on!

I genuinely wish for it to touch as many individuals as possible, resonating in some form within their minds and hearts in a positive manner. My hope is that it provides them with a sense of escape from the moment they hit play!
11. What is your favorite aspect of making the album? The fans' reaction to it, playing sets featuring songs from this album, or something else?
I cherish the creative process and the emotions it evokes as the story unfolds from one track to the next. Witnessing your ideas and visions materialize into a cohesive work is an irreplaceable sensation, one that can be truly addictive. It’s rewarding to know that you are not only satisfying your own creative aspirations but also sharing this experience directly with the minds and hearts of your loyal fans, as well as potential new listeners.
12. What are your next plans after this album is released?
Keep Moving Forward with Passion and Creativity!
I’ll continue pursuing what I love! Exciting collaborations are on the horizon, and I’m eager to work with artists beyond the Trance genre, as I’m a big fan of the Synthwave scene! My goal is to keep inspiring others with fresh and innovative ideas!
Recently, I’ve received several invitations for live performances, but it wasn’t until this past year that I felt it was the right moment for me. Who knows what the future holds? I never say never!
