Sequence Six (Ten Questions with...) Exclusive interview

Sequence Six is a producer and DJ from the United States. He has released his tracks on labels such as Future Sound Of Egypt, Grotesque Music, Titan Audio, Mass, Pure Trance Neon and Find Your Harmony. This rising talent confirms why all eyes of the Trance scene should be on him. I invite you to an exclusive interview conducted for Visions Of Trance.

1. What is trance music to you?

Trance music is all about the melodies and what kind of energy they evoke, so ultimately, I guess it's more of a feeling and energy that the music brings than it is a genre.

2. How do you perceive the state of the current trance music scene?

I think it's great! There's a lot of positive growth and increased popularity right now and I feel there are some very strong
producers embracing their emotions and putting that into their music this year. It's great to see. There are a lot of Trance shows being announced all over the world, so I just see a bright future.

3. What are your goals in producing trance music?

To tell meaningful stories. To continue growing and travel the world sharing my music with others. And a big goal of mine is also to write an album or many albums. I'm sure I will, it's just not quite time yet.

4. Who was your inspiration to start producing trance music?

Dash Berlin was the first big inspiration in Trance for me, but everything shifted when I was watching an ASOT livestream from Utrecht and saw Aly & Fila b2b John O'Callaghan. That set changed my life. I instantly connected with that sound more than anything I'd ever heard, so I decided right then that I needed to shift my efforts into making Uplifting Trance. To now be signed with FSOE and have shared the stage with John O'Callaghan is surreal in the best way.

5. Which song are you most proud of and why?

Sai Kung. It's a song dedicated to and named after my favorite place in the world. I'll never forget how easy it was to make that track. The morning I finished it was the day of the most recent Aly & Fila open to close here in Los Angeles. I sent it to Fadi and the track got played at 2:43am to a packed Avalon Hollywood. Hearing it in that set, the
first track I got signed to FSOE, feeling that the writing, the mix and master are absolutely flawless...it's one of the best feelings in the world. I think even if it hadn't gotten signed to the label of my dreams, I'd still be most proud of that track. It just takes me straight back to being in Sai Kung, and every element means something to me.

6. Will your future releases be collaborations with other artists? Are you more into solo productions?

I have a bit of both coming up. I think working with others can be great, but it really depends on who. I have had some fantastic collaboration experiences, and some not so great ones. I find that for me, my studio is a sacred place, where I can bare my heart and soul without judgement, without
fear, so I have to be comfortable enough and secure enough with my collaborator, if both our names are going on that track, to communicate and express everything, and they need to be able to do the same.

7. What inspires you to create trance music?

Life experiences inspire me to create music. Trance is the purest form of taking those melodies and sounds from somewhat ambient or cohesive melodic parts and making them into a whole and complete listening experience.

8. What hardware and software do you use to create trance music?

FL Studio is my DAW of choice. I've been using it since day one. I don't have any hardware synths or compressors so I have quite a few VST plugins. I love Serum, Spire, Diva and of course Sylenth1. I'm a big limiter and compressor guy, so I'm always reaching for Waves API, Invisible Limiter, the Ozone plugins, or Waves Linear Phase Multiband
Compressor. You can check out my Sai Kung production walkthrough on the FSOE YouTube channel if you'd like to see how I use most of these plugins.

9. How do you perceive the influence of social media on the career development of a trance artist?

It has its pros and cons, but I prefer to focus on the pros. It’s a very important part of the growth and artist can achieve. I have been able to share my voice with the world freely, allowing people to put a face to the Sequence Six name. I’m able to show more than just the art, and I don’t want to hide behind a name or a mask. Sequence Six isn’t my legal name, but I don’t put on any persona to be perceived any other way because I’m a musician or because I’m sharing on social media. I just share myself and my life and I think the more we do that as artists, the more
power we have to change peoples lives for the better.

10. Finally, what would you like to say to your fans?

Thank you. It means a great deal to me to read your comments, messages, and meet some of you at my shows. I’ll be continuing to release more uplifting records throughout 2025 and truly am grateful to share them with all of you. If you’d like to get in touch, feel free to send me a message on my socials, or if you’d like to book me for any performances, please send an email to: bookings@sequencesixmusic.com.
