Binary Ensemble (Ten Questions with...) Exclusive Interview & Guest Mix
Binary Ensemble is an Indian duo of producers. They have released on labels such as Magic Island, Regenerate Records, HeavensGate, Always Alive Records, AVA White and many more. The guys shared interesting information about their work. I invite you to an interview conducted only for Visions Of Trance.
1. What is trance music to you?
Deeptayan : Trance music is not just a genre of music for me. It is life, it is love. It is something to which I can truly , or rather my soul really vibes to, where I can get my self confidence. It is like a teacher to me. It teaches me love and respect, you know. It has always lifted me up, rather saved me from all kinds of negative vibes! Trance is a saviour to me!! Rather, I look up to trance music as my life partner, haha!
Sandeep: Rightly as Deeptayan said, Trance music is like a panacea to the soul, a cure for your heart and my daily dose of inspirarion. Trance brought us all together!
2. How do you perceive the state of the current trance music scene?
Deeptayan : Evolution in any kind of music is inevitable. So I would say, the modern or the current trance music scene has undergone that evolution. People always look for new things in everything, and something has to evolve if it has to survive! The current scene has much more to offer to the family, with its wide varieties of styles to cater to the fans. Also as a producer, I would like to think this evolution offers opportunities to try out and learn new skills and thought processes which expands the creativity!
Sandeep: The current trance music scene is doing really nice imo, so much evolution over these years since its inception. People are working really hard to bring brand new concepts and I am really looking forward to what this scene is gonna offer us in future.
3. What are your goals in producing trance music?
Deeptayan: Well, our goal is to reach maximum people's heart through our music where we share our stories, our emotions and feeling with the world. And the love and support everyone has shown us is incredible and this is the fuel to our creativity and inspiration. We will forever be grateful for that!
Sandeep: Absolutely what Deeptayan said, taking our music to maximum people and connecting through our music. Its all about love, and with great music comes great minds!
4. Who was your inspiration to start producing trance music?
Deeptayan : I remember listening to this song called Suddenly Summer by Armin van Buuren and Ana Criado in 2014 and instantly fell in love with the genre. The way the emotions of the song built and touched me is beyond words. And then I went on to explore more and more artists like Aly & Fila, Stoneface & Terminal, Dan Stone, Ferry Tayle, Somna, Bryan Kearney, John O Callaghan, Factor B, honestly I cannot complete the list haha! Major inspirations!!
Sandeep: I recall my journey back in 2010 when I accidentally fell in love with trance after hearing a trance mixtape. Before that I absolutely had no idea about this genre. That night changed my life forever!
It was during 2010-2015 I became so obsessed with trance music that I almost used to spend 10-12 hours a day listening to various radio shows like ASOT (Armin Van Burren), Trance Around The World (Above & Beyond), Global DJ Broadcast (Markus Schulz) to name a few. I also worked as event manager in one of many online trance radio stations for a year. I still feel the same energy and enthusiasm after all these years, and all these thousands of hours of listening actually helped me to coin our own production.
5. Which song are you most proud of and why?
Deeptayan : Personally, I am most proud of our track with our brother Exolight. The track is called The Day We Met. This is a track describing the day, or rather your first date! It is a very special track for me. The track gives you the feel of the day, right from the start. The tensed anticipation, then you meet, you chat, you share and ultimately you have a splendid time!
Sandeep: Exactly as Deeptayan said, The Day We Met with our brother Exolight has been our hot favorite, and we really enjoy playing it around.
6. Will your future releases be collaborations with other artists? Are you more into solo productions?
Deeptayan: Yes, we have three very special collaborations coming up! And many solo projects are also in the making.
Sandeep: Yeah there will be loads of new music and we can't wait to share with you all! Collaborations really helped us in learning many new production process from our fellow producers, also it helps a lot to "go out of our comfort zone" which I think is really important as far as experimenting is concerned.
7. What inspires you to create trance music?
Deeptayan : For me, the immense love for the genre and the love and support from Trancefamily.
Sandeep: I see everything around me in trance music's perspective. Each and every phase of your life can be a trance song! Our immense love for trance music helps create new ideas, also the unending love and support from trancefamily is the fuel to our creation.
8. What hardware and software do you use to create trance music?
Deeptayan: We use Ableton Live 11 Suite for our productions. As for plugins, Lennar Digital Sylenth1, Reveal Sound Spire, Serum, Synapse Audio Dune 3, reFX Nexus, Adam Szabo Viper, Sonic Academy Ana 2 are some of our favourites.
Sandeep: For hardware, we have Arturia Keylab 61 Essential as our primary midi keyboard, a pair of Yamaha HS5's as our monitors, Audient iD 4 as our audio interface, and Beyerdynamic DT880 Pro as our headphones.
9. How do you perceive the influence of social media on the career development of a trance artist?
Deeptayan: I believe, if used correctly, social media can play a very important role. We have always been benefitted. We have been advised by our seniors in the industry to come more and interact with people , stay in touch, show what you are doing behind the scenes , tell what you are upto and these advices have really been helpful to us!
Sandeep: Oh my god! Social media has become a boon for the current scene. But I strongly feel that we should use it correctly, and precisely.
10. Finally, what would you like to say to your fans?
Deeptayan: You guys are our inspiration, our energy, our emotions, our everything. Without you, we are nothing! Thank you so much for all your love and support! We promise to bring you more and more amazing gifts for all of you.
Sandeep: Our fans are our oxygen, so please keep loving us and keep supporting us. We promise to bring you new music and there will be no compromise with the quality for sure. Thank you so much, we love you all!
