"The Silence" by Mike Koglin is a legendary track released in 1998 on Multiply Records. It's one of the most euphoric trance productions ever and is so mysteriously interesting from start to finish. While the original is a great track, the version that caught the most attention was Matt Darey's Tekar mix. He infused it with breakbeats while still having that magical trance vibe, which is why it's still played to this day.
Mike recalls:
"It was in 1998, around the time the first trance wave hit the UK. I remember watching MTV one night when I saw the original video for Depeche Mode's "Enjoy the Silence" and it occurred to me that the main melody would make a great trance tune. The next day I went to the studio and tried it, and it worked like a charm. It took a while to get in touch with the guys from Depeche Mode, but when they heard my version, they loved it. It was released on Multiply Records in November 1998 and went into the UK top 20! "The Silence" has been featured on numerous compilations since then!!!"
A music video was shot for this track. It's undoubtedly the most recognizable track from this artist. It's already a permanent part of the history of the electronic music genre. You have to pay tribute to productions like this, because music like this isn't being produced anymore.
