TIËSTO and his "Live At Innercity" is one of the greatest releases with classic trance in history. The CD was released in 1999 by the ID&T label. It starts with the bang of Push's "Universal Nation". You can hear the whistle and chant of the crowd, but when the climax hits the song, the crowd goes wild and you have the same feeling. Then it goes very well with "Out of Darkness" by Fire & Ice. It then flows smoothly into Latin "El Nino" and then "Endless Wave". Tiesto then lowers it a few degrees and this is an incentive to drop the glow sticks and put on the headphones. And for me, this next song sequence is really what makes this album a classic for me. The sounds are so varied yet recognizable. You know you listen to trance and even if this is your first time listening to this genre of music and you know it sounds great. The songs are very muted. The visitor doesn't really change things until "Twixt" before blending in with his own "Theme from Norefjell". The last two tracks, "Gouryella" and "Orange Theme", are Ferry Corsten's remixed tracks, the first of which was co-produced by Tiesto and Ferry. Although trance sets are no longer made that way, unlike most trance albums of the last decade, this one is still a pleasure to hear. I highly recommend this set for listening with headphones in the bedroom with the lights off. This is what makes this kit so good. The mixing is impeccable. Tiesto has a mixing clinic on this CD. It was one of the first compilations of this artist I heard and while I was still looking for more of his progressive trance work, it is as good classic trance music as it has ever been and always enjoyable to listen to.
