Despite all the stereotypes about his emotional progressive trance style and other genres he took clubbers “on a journey” with, Sasha was part of a technical revolution. In those early days of DJing, he was one of the few who defined how records could be mixed, adding a talent that went beyond playing other people’s music. His sets created new music on the spot, as if DJing was his own art form. At the time he was radical and attracted an obsessive audience worldwide. In 2002 he released his best album called "Airdrawndagger".
It is on this album that you can find the legendary track "Wavy Gravy". The track was a collaboration between Sasha, Charlie May and Simon Wright. It reached number 64 on the UK Singles Chart. It is well known for the amateur remix competition that led to hundreds of producers remixing the track. This amazing production crosses borders combining several genres. Here you get progressive trance, breaks and ambient all in one!!! It is a great track and a clear standout on this album. It is definitely my number 2 in his work, right after the legendary "Xpander".
A perfect start that encourages you to turn up the volume on your CD player. There is no room for weak points here. The track gives you a dose of incredible melodies with every passing second. It makes me come back to this production again and again. It is simply a masterpiece!!! It is precisely such releases that pay off with their quality all those years spent in the world of electronic music.
