Despite the fact that Paragliders was mainly Oliver Lieb's solo project, he also collaborated with Torsten Stenzel (aka York) on earlier releases. "Paragliders EP" is a release that featured one of the best tracks of this project. "Bagdad" was released in 1993 on Superstition Records.
Vinyl record dedicated to Torsten Fenslau, who died the same year. A year later, Oliver took the best out of this classic and created his own version to almost nine minutes. This version can be found on the vinyl edition from Rising High Records.
As you can easily guess, the name of the song is the capital of Iraq. This city is one of the largest in the Middle East, and its history is worth reading about on the Internet. I heard the original version in the mid-nineties and was immediately fascinated. At that time, I immediately checked who was behind this amazing project. The incredible melody line grabs the listener's attention and makes me appreciate this song even more, which was created over thirty years ago.
It's hard to believe that so many years have passed. Oliver Lieb's remix is a polished diamond that shines just like its original version. Or is it even better? I will leave that to everyone who appreciates this musical work. It is wonderful that this legendary producer decided to extend this song by two additional minutes. I can describe it as a delight for my ears. Both vinyl editions are worth having in your collection if only because you can find other great songs from this wonderful collaboration on them.
